SAWYER STOUT COMPLETES FIRST STEP OF 2026 OSS MISSION

Outlaw 350 Supermodified Sprint Series PR

PLYMOUTH, IN (June 13) – For two consecutive seasons, Sawyer Stout (Norwalk, OH) has finished runner-up
in the final Team Willis 350 Outlaw Supermodified/Sprint Series (OSS) point standing and he set himself a goal
to end that role in 2026. He completed the first step towards that target Friday night at Plymouth (IN) Motor
Speedway when he outlasted defending champion Danny Shirey for a hard fought 40-lap victory in the Hoosier
Tire Midwest sponsored event.

But, it almost didn’t happen. The new father brought his 4-week old daughter Indiana with him for her first full
racing weekend and upon her arrival to the track she wasn’t feeling well. Sawyer’s thoughts and attention
turned towards her, with thoughts of sitting out the night. But as things calmed down, those thoughts were put
to rest, as things settled in and he donned the fire suit and went to work.

The mission was set – now there were two goals. First, work on the championship run and second, get a win
for daughter Indiana, ironically, in the state of Indiana.

A deep inversion found Stout and Shirey deep in the field at the dropping of the green flag, ninth and tenth
respectively. Things turned even more sour for Shirey, the Jim Valentine Fast Qualifier Award winner, as
before he could complete turn one, he touched wheels with another car and veered sharply towards the
outside concrete wall. Quick thinking on his part kept him off the wall and he was able to restart, but at the rear
of the field this time.

On the restart, polesitter Sam Stout had fuel pick-up issues and couldn’t get up to speed, but the field
miraculously avoided any contact, allowing outside polesitter Joey Wyckoff to shoot into a six-car lead.
A couple of early race yellows for spins by Clayton Karl and Frank Neill slowed the pace, but by then Sawyer
Stout had moved towards the front and by virtue of the ‘choose cone’ started outside of Wyckoff with just little
over-halfway to go in the event. Lined up behind him on that restart was Shirey, who gathered up his
momentum from the earlier mishap and was surging to the front. But had been running well in Plymouth’s
second groove, so it was no surprise that Stout shot into the lead on the new green flag.

Wyckoff briefly held on to second, before Shirey could take over.

A final yellow flag wound Stout and Shirey lining up side-by-side for the restart and it was a drag race to the
green, with Stout prevailing. J.J. Henes was now in control of third position, with Dive Bar Rookie of the Year
candidate Keegan Weese driving a masterful race to move into fourth spot.

It looked like it was easy sailing for Stout at that point, but with two laps to go in the chase, the leaders
approached the rear of the field and were about to lap them, erasing the huge lead of Stout. Shirey moved in
quickly in attempt to stop Stout but ran out of time. Those two finished ahead of Henes, Weese and Wyckoff to
complete the top five. Stout was joined in victory lane by fiancé Victoria and a happy baby daughter.
