ROSSBURG, OH (Nov. 6) – To assure that indoor concrete racing continues well into the next generation, Ohio Indoor Kart Series (OIKS) founder Larry Boos has asked Erik Wolleson to join his team.
“With nearly 50 years of promoting indoor concrete racing, I have seen the highs and lows and many changes in the sport. It has been great and I have been privileged to see many high-profile careers blossomed through our series. While I am not giving up, I must realize that sooner or later, this age thing will get the best of me, so I need to start planning on a future for the series,” commented Boos.
“I began talking to Erik a few years ago and am impressed with his desire to not only continue, but improve the current state of indoor concrete racing,” continued Boos. “If anything, I need to slow him down. The plan is to focus on the history of OIKS and what the concept is, and from there, implement productivity and innovative visions.”

Wolleson added, “after more than 15 years in racing -from driving karts and cars, to flagging, tech inspecting and running a series of my own – taking this step to join into promotions with OIKS alongside Larry Boos feels like a natural progression. Larry has built a foundation and a legacy that started before I was born, and I’m deeply honored he’s asked me to join him. Over the next few years, my goal is to soak up everything that Larry can teach me about running a seamless operation, while introducing fresh, modern karting concepts to keep building this sport for the next generation of drivers and families.”
The duo will begin comparing notes with OIKS’ first indoor racing event of the season on Sunday, November 22 inside the highly respected ‘hogbarn’ (O’Neill Building) at the Ohio Expo Center. A one-session program featuring many of the traditional OIKS classes will be contested on the same oval that will be used by the Buckeye Quarter Midgets the night before. “We experimented with that oval last year, and while the expectations were dismal, the outcome was overwhelming,” commented Boos. “Everyone that competed had high praise for the oval, and the level of competition it produced. We will start our winter hogbarn series on this oval and then for the remaining two events, we will consider the other oval concepts that are available within the building.”

Boos wrapped up the announcement with “I strongly believe in indoor kart racing on concrete and our stern approach to efficiency and fairness, which has led to a tremendous following of racers. It is hard to believe that some of the racers competing today are third generation racers within the series. Erik seems like a great fit to carry on that groundwork.”
